A Limited Edition Print is a print produced as part of a fixed number of identical prints of an original work of art numbered in succession and showing the print's number and total edition size. Signed limited edition prints are individually signed by the artist. No further reproductions of the set (edition) are to be printed once the set (limited) number of prints have been created.

What is an Artist Proof (AP)? In offset reproductions, artist's proofs are additional prints not included in, but of the same quality as, the regular edition. In original prints, artist's proofs are the first prints pulled, which are the truest prints in the edition because the plates and screens have not yet been worn down. Artist's proofs are distinguished by the abbreviation AP and are numbered separately; they often represent 10 percent of an edition and are slightly more expensive than prints in the regular edition. In addition, Steve includes a small original drawing next to his signature on all AP prints.

What is a Remarque? If specifically requested by a collector, Steve Anderson will personally remarque your new print or signed lithograph. A remarque is an original pencil drawing or sketch usually appearing in the lower margin of the print. The remarque adds a special value to your print because it is a one-of-a-kind original and is kept for the very lowest numbers in each edition. The collector will work directly with the artist to determine the choice of this original drawing. An example may be a favorite train engine or line drawn on an American Train Remarque purchase.

What is a Certificate of Authenticity? A warranty card or statement of authenticity of a limited-edition print that records the title of the work, the artist's name, the edition size and the print's number within the edition, the number of artist's proofs and the release date. It is a guarantee that the edition is

What is an original painting? A one-of-a-kind image created by an artist that often sells for several thousands of dollars.

What does Signed and Numbered (S/N) mean? Limited-edition prints that have been signed and sequentially numbered by the artist. The artist's signature is usually found in one of the lower corners of the print and is accompanied by a number that looks like a fraction; the top number indicates the number of the print and the bottom number indicates the total number of prints in the edition.

What does sold-out mean? When all prints in a limited edition have been sold, the edition is sold-out and prints must be bought and sold on the secondary market.

What is the difference between a Limited Edition Print and an Open Edition Print?
Open Edition Prints are identical prints of an image and are sometimes signed by the artist. The number of prints that can be published is unlimited and therefore not as collectible as a limited edition print.

Will my Limited Edition Print increase in value?
Since the reproductions are limited in number, their value increases as the demand for the artist's work increased. Once an edition is sold out so that the print is no longer available from the publisher or artist, the prints are considered to be on the Secondary Market. On the Secondary Market, the print can be bought and sold by any dealer or individual, often above issue price, depending on supply and demand.

How can I be sure that the Limited Edition Print is, in fact, an actual Limited Edition?
All Mr. Anderson's limited edition prints come with a certificate of Authenticity. The Certificate of Authenticity is signed by the artist and states information about the print such as:
The statement of the fact that it is a limited edition print
The Title of the work
The size of the print and how it was created
The date of release
The total number of reproductions in the edition.
The artist's signature indicating that it is a limited edition
What is acid-free paper or canvas?
Paper or canvas treated to neutralize it's natural acidity in order to protect fine art and photographic prints from discoloration and deterioration.
